Why Season Four Is Ending Early, and What Comes Next

If you've been with me through Season Four, however spotty it's been, thank you. Genuinely. Thank you for staying, for listening, for the encouragement you've sent my way even when episodes were few and far between.

This is the last episode of Season 4, and it's coming a lot earlier than it ever has before. Normally I run this podcast through November, take a break over Christmas and New Year's, and start fresh in February. That's been the rhythm for the last four years. This year, that's not happening, and in the episode above, I tell you why. Not just the surface reason, but the whole story underneath it, because I think some of it is going to feel familiar if your year has looked anything like mine.

‍I'm not going to repeat the whole story here. That's what the video is for. But I want to leave you with a few things in writing, in case you read blog posts before you commit to pressing play, or in case you want to come back to this later.

The Short Version

Season Four didn't end in interruption. It started there, and it never really let up. Between a copyright strike, months of illness, an ER visit, a layoff, a diagnosis I didn't see coming, and a fall down a staircase the night after I officiated my daughter's wedding, this season stripped away a lot of what I thought this ministry was supposed to look like.

And here's what was left standing when it did: my women's Bible study on Monday nights, and our Quiet Table study halls three more nights a week. That's the center. That's what this whole ministry actually grew out of in the first place. Everything else, including this podcast, was built around that center, not the other way around, even if I'd started treating it backwards.

What I Built Instead

While I was recovering, I finished something I'd been circling for two years: the Lyric & Letter Companion Study App. Not another piece of content, but the one place I actually needed, a single door instead of a dozen scattered documents, Google Sheets, and printouts.

It walks you through the same seven-step method I've always taught. It carries the full chronological reading plan, Genesis to Revelation, over 872 sets of passages. What Happens to the Podcast

I know a lot of you have told me this podcast is where you got to know me personally, not the guides, not the music, but the talking, the walking through Scripture together. I'm not willing to let that go.

But it's changing shape. When the podcast comes back, it starts over from Genesis 1, working through two years of my own study notes as I move them into the app. And starting with Season 5, there are no more episode numbers. Each one will just be named for the Scripture it covers, because a number quietly promises a schedule I can't keep, and a Scripture reference promises something I actually can, that whenever an episode arrives, it will be worth your time, whether that's next week or next year.

There's no release schedule going forward. Episodes will come when they come. If you want the rhythm, the rhythm is in the app, and it's at The Quiet Table.
